A coconut was smashed with the first shovel of dirt at the Farrer (ACT) site of Mandir Ashram, an 80 ILU village plus 106 bed care facility. The development was first announced in 2008. It is the initiative of The Mandir Society of Australia, a Not for Profit community group. It has already secured support from 12 local community organisations – including Chinese, Indians, Sri Lankans, Tamils, Buddhists and Kurds. Village ILU’s will be priced from $400K to $600K. Language and food will be key, they say.
