As we reported here, Earle Haven suddenly ceased its care services at two residential units at the facility, Orchid House and Hibiscus House on July 11th this year.

The sudden closure resulted in the evacuation of 70 vulnerable residents by state emergency services.

The committee investigating the Earle Haven debacle will also look at end-of-life and palliative care and voluntary assisted dying.

The committee’s powers are equivalent to the powers of a royal commission.
