1 min read

Tasmania's largest Not For Profit aged care provider Southern Cross Care (Tasmania) Inc has appointed Esteban Cox CEO, after former CEO Robyn Boyd resigned in August.

Esteban has business management experience in a range of community sectors including aged care, primary healthcare and disability and has worked in both Australia and overseas in a range of multinational healthcare organisations.

“I have spent my working career in and around the health care sector, so I am excited about the opportunity to lead Southern Cross Care,” he said.

Esteban has been on the board of Southern Cross Care (Tasmania) Inc for the last nine months, but resigned when he indicated his interest in the CEO role.

Since Robyn's departure, Jara Dean has been performing the role of Interim CEO. Esteban and Jara will work together until mid-February, when Esteban will take on the role of the CEO in a fulltime capacity.

Southern Cross Care Tasmania Chair, Stephen Shirley, also resigned in August, days after the Independent Member for Clark, Andrew Wilkie, met with the regulator to discuss community concerns about the provider over low staffing levels, residents being forced to dress themselves, poor quality food and care, and slow bell response times.

Southern Cross Care (Tasmania) has nine aged care homes and nearly 1,000 residents.
