WA Govt hands over $6.6M in Crown land for Kalgoorlie seniors’ housing

The Western Australian Government has unlocked 15.6 hectares of Crown land to expand seniors’ housing in Kalgoorlie-Boulder, 595km east-northeast of Perth.

The land worth $6.6 million is being handed over to Goldfields Masonic Homes Inc, operator of Pringle Village, with a view for a four-stage expansion that will increase the number of units on site to 250 and add more common facilities for residents.

State Lands and Housing Minister John Carey (pictured) said his Department’s “number one focus” is using land assets to drive positive community change.

“This is a significant parcel of land that will allow Goldfields Masonic Homes to significantly increase their footprint and expand the number of seniors accommodation units available in Kalgoorlie.

“The $6.6 million land contribution is in addition to $17.6 million allocated in the recent State Budget for the development of new residential and industrial land in Kalgoorlie,” he said.

Mining and Pastoral MLC Kyle McGinn said the “fantastic” result came about because of hard work and cooperation between the Government and Goldfields Masonic Homes.

“Providing this land gives Goldfields Masonic Homes the certainty needed to get on with the job of delivering more seniors accommodation in Kalgoorlie, which will be an important element of addressing some of the housing challenges being faced,” he said.

Pringle Village first opened in 2019, and currently features 49 units on 2.1 hectares of land.
