With Bendigo house prices pushing beyond $2 million for large family homes, downsizers are increasingly looking for alternatives.

Lincoln Place Executive General Manager Development, Angus Johnson said 35 of 70 homes in the latest stage of development at Lincoln Lifestyle Kangaroo Flat, Bendigo, have sold, with many people looking to downsize from larger houses.

Two- and three-bedroom homes, with open-plan layouts, private outdoor areas, generous storage and quality inclusions throughout, at the land lease community are priced from just $415,000.

The latest home release is offering seven new home designs, with a mix of floor plans and upgraded finishes including built in wardrobes, chrome hardware and 2.7 metre-high ceilings.

The new homes will be built alongside a $3 million wellness centre featuring an indoor pool, fully equipped gym, outdoor activity spaces and resident recreation amenities.

The additions complement the estate’s existing facilities, which include a work shed and two existing on-site clubhouses, with an outdoor pool, residents lounge and two bowling greens, enjoyed by the 350 current residents.

Nearly 200 people attended the open day for the new release of homes
“At our recent open day showcasing the new masterplanned precinct, we saw the wider community was excited for what this new stage offers, with nearly 200 people attending information sessions, chats with residents, and enjoying trackless train tours of the community,” Angus said.
“The new wellness centre will be delivered in line with completion of the new homes, creating a third resident activity hub for the community, further enhancing community connection and wellness.”

Angus said works on the latest stage are expected to commence by Christmas 2026, and the operator looks forward to welcoming the first residents into their new homes in early 2027.

“With new home designs featuring enhanced floorplans and inclusions, this release is an excellent opportunity for over-50s to downsize without sacrificing on comfort, affordability or lifestyle,” he added.
