Brisbane Water (NSW) Legacy Chief Executive Officer Peter Lawley OAM has told The Weekly SOURCE that Central Coast Legacy has a monthly lease back option for the 11,000msq block, 85km north of Sydney, for up to 12 months.
The Not For Profit sold the retirement village it had originally planned to redevelop in 2022/23.
"Rising construction costs made the project for a Charitry not financially responsible," Peter said.
"We are continuing to provide accommodation for our Legacy War Widows, taking on a head lease at 1 Shortland St, Point Frederick, on a new development, with 14 units leased for 5x5 years.
"In addition, we have subdivided the '6 York St' apartments from the Masons Parade site, and will retain and continue to rent the nine units in that complex for the Legacy War Widows.
"As a result, our entire current group of residents will remain in affordable units supported by Legacy, near by the former site. Residents moves will be completed during July/August."
The organisation provides more than $900,000 in funding each year to support war widows and families of veterans on the NSW Central Coast, with no Government support.
