ACT: Residents win fight for potential village and aged care site to be set aside for community use

1 min read

The new wave of Consumer Advocacy: The ACT Government has approved a variation to the Territory Plan that will prevent the block in Wright in the Molonglo Valley being used for residential care, supportive housing and retirement villages.

Instead it will only be able to be used for a community centre, child care, health, education or outdoor recreation after a campaign by the Wright Resident Group.

Wright is a new suburb and Minister for Planning and Land Management Mick Gentleman said the needs of the community were yet to be “fully established, unlike other suburbs which have existing developments”.

We wonder if they have considered the future need for retirement living and aged care too?
