Adrian Puljich’s brother Anthony takes charge of family business Living Gems

With Adrian Puljich at the helm of ASX-listed land lease operator GemLife, a new generation of the Puljich family is also taking charge of Living Gems – the business founded by Adrian’s father, Peter, in 1982.

Anthony Puljich has been named CEO of Living Gems as the company secured planning approval for what will be the largest over-50s lifestyle resort in Rockhampton, central Queensland.

Anthony joined the business as General Manager in mid-2024, having always had an involvement in the business. He is also a trained periodontist, and was a senior partner for over 15 years at one of Queensland's most successful dental practices.

Adrian, who previously headed Living Gems, told The Weekly SOURCE in May last year, that AVID Property Group's $285 million purchase of eight Living Gems communities had injected the capital required to enable the Puljich family to continue expanding. Stockland also purchased five Living Gems sites for $210 million in July 2023.

In May, Living Gems received approval for a 295-home land lease community at Harris Crossing, Townsville. Now, it will build the $360 million 505-home Living Gems Rockhampton on 27ha in Parkhurst, with construction anticipated to begin in September.

Each home will feature two bedrooms plus a multipurpose room, complemented by over $23 million worth of lifestyle amenities across 3,800sqm. Highlights include an architect-designed Country Club, a Summer House, and sports and lifestyle precincts with resort-style pools, a bowling alley, yoga space, residents’ workshop, golf simulator, dog run, tennis and pickleball courts, an undercover lawn bowls green, and RV parking.

Anthony said demand for over-50s living in the Rockhampton region was high.

“More than 34% of Rockhampton’s population is over 50, with many still living in large properties due to the shortage of low maintenance, secure options such as this,” he said. “Living Gems Rockhampton has been carefully designed so residents can spend less time on their home and more time enjoying life, with a range of facilities to keep them active and independent, and to encourage strong community connections in a relaxed environment.

“Encouraging over 50s to downsize to more suitable homes where they can age in place opens family-sized housing for younger generations stepping into the market or upgrading to a home to suit their growing family.”
