Not For Profit aged care facility Pyramid Residential Care Centre (PRCC) in Gordonvale, 24km south of Cairns, in Far North Queensland, has completed a 22-bed extension, expanding its capacity from 54 beds to 76.

The expansion consisted of the construction of 20 new rooms and upgrading of five existing rooms.

The project, which puts the cost at more than $430,000 per bed, was partly funded by a $6.5 million Federal Government grant, with PRCC contributing the $3 million shortfall, the Cairns Post reported.

PRCC is currently accepting applications for the new and refurbished rooms and is actively recruiting staff.
