Aged care provider Rembrandt Living names new CEO
The South Australian Not For Profit aged care provider has appointed a new CEO, after the decade-long incumbent moved to a new role.
Paul Shields, who has extensive experience in the aged care sector, has been appointed CEO of Rembrandt Living, commencing in January 2026.
Since 2024, Paul has been consulting in the aged care sector, supporting new businesses in residential aged care, and managing the transition of aged care homes to new owners and operators.
“My focus is on melding care, cultural and commercial imperatives to create a high-performing organisation that delivers positive outcomes for residents, clients and their families,” he said.
Paul also previously held Queensland state manager roles at Japara Healthcare, acquired by Calvary Health Care in 2021, and ASX-listed Regis Aged Care.
He was also executive manager of aged care at St Agnes’ Care and Lifestyle in Port Macquarie, NS,W and head of operations at Summerset Retirement Villages.
In a statement, Rembrandt Living said: "Paul joins us with significant experience across residential, home care and retirement living. He brings a deep commitment to supporting older Australians to live with dignity, purpose, and connection.
“We are confident that he will lead Rembrandt Living with warmth, integrity, and vision as we continue to provide exceptional care and support to our residents and clients.”

Paul replaces Deborah Dutton, who filled the CEO role for 10 years. She has moved to the CEO role at disability provider Orana Australia.

Rembrandt has been in operation for more than 25 years, providing CHSP and Support at Home services, and operating the Rembrandt Court aged care home in Underdale, 5km west of the Adelaide CBD.
