Aged care
Conceived 20 years ago, Antiochian church opens $26M aged care home in Sydney’s west

Sydney’s Antiochian Orthodox community has opened a $26 million, 80-bed aged care facility, St Nicholas Senior Care Centre, in Punchbowl, 17km west of the Sydney CBD, built with the assistance of $8.5 million from the NSW Government and significant donations from the Antiochian community.

NSW Premier Chris Minns attended the opening event, along with NSW Minister for Multiculturalism Steve Kamper and NSW Minister for Seniors Jodie Harrison.

According to the church’s website, the home features spacious bedrooms, cinema, gym, physiotherapy room, hairdresser, and art studio.

The operator will be Antiochian Care Limited, a registered charity.

“The facility is set to transform not only the suburb of Punchbowl but ushering in a new era of elderly care and encouraging a shift in societal attitudes towards our elders and those in need of care,” states the church’s website.

“With its doors now open to the community, St. Nicholas promises to become a new town centre where our beloved elders can live with dignity, respect, and the love and care they deserve.”
Property developer Deicorp was the builder.
