Feros Care looks to SMASH stigma around aged care jobs with latest film series

1 min read

The aged care provider will today release the first episode in ‘SMASHING’, a new six-part documentary series that is seeking to shatter the stereotypes around aged care careers.

A collaboration with Ironbark Films, the series will showcase a different Feros Care team member in each episode, with the first episode to feature Community Wellbeing Manager, Russ Hargreaves (pictured above), an advocate for LGBTQIA+SB rights.

With a new episode to be released every month until July, upcoming episodes highlight the organisation’s first female member of its IT team, an 80-year-old physio assistant and a carpenter who transitioned into aged care among its stars.

Feros Care’s Acting CEO Melissa Simpson (pictured) told The SOURCE that the project – the fifth film series for the group – is aimed at challenging the misconception that working in aged care is boring and with no career prospects.

“We wanted to SMASH those myths and surprise viewers that in fact the industry attracts a whole range of people, who like life in general, are different, interesting, and genuinely love their role in aged care.

“We also want to make our industry workers proud of their work and the difference they can make in people lives. And of course, the objective outcome is to attract more people and retain existing workers in our industry.”
