After more than three decades of leadership by Viv Allanson OAM, Phoebe van Bentum says she is “honoured” to be appointed CEO of Newcastle-based Not For Profit aged care provider Maroba.
"I’m delighted and honoured to share that I have been handed the baton as CEO of Maroba and Smart Training and Consulting, following in the footsteps of the inestimable, remarkable Viv Allanson OAM," Phoebe said.
Maroba operates residential aged care at The Manor, across four suburbs, and the Lodge, across two suburbs, and Maroba Terrace retirement living in Newcastle, 162km north-northeast of Sydney's CBD. The organisation also operates Smart Training and Consulting.
Of Viv's departure, Tracey Burton (right), Executive Director of Uniting NSW/ACT, said on LinkedIn: "Viv, you have been such a gift to the Aged Care Sector and to so many of the people we are all here to serve. Your legacy will live on. Enjoy your next adventures but I’m sure you’ll continue to be a force for good, and we congratulate Phoebe in her new role."
Frank Price, CEO RFBI, added, "Viv, what a privilege it has been to share part of my journey in this wonderful industry with you. You have done so much for older Australians, whether through Maroba or all of the advocacy work through Aged & Community Services Australia (ACSA) or directly via the media. Thank you for being such a wonderful advocate."
Phoebe has a Bachelor of Law and extensive executive experience in the Not For Profit sector, most recently as CEO of education organisations, Studio Schools of Australia and NT Christian Schools.
Phoebe will work alongside Viv until 26 September, Viv's official departure date.
