Last week, The SOURCE reported that Carinity’s Summit Cottages, which has 23 residents, will close due to staff shortages after it was forced to fly in staff from Melbourne.
This week there has been speculation the home, located in Mount Morgan 680km north of Brisbane, is being put up for sale, due to maintenance work being done on the buildings.
However, Carinity, which owns 12 homes in Queensland, has denied the claim.
“Carinity is aware of speculation in some parts of the Mount Morgan community that some general maintenance work at the site was carried out in order to prepare Summit Cottages for sale.
“We categorically deny this claim and confirm that we currently have no plans for the future of the site – our priority is working with residents, their families, and our staff throughout the closure process.”
The SOURCE: The loss of an aged care facility in a small community is strongly felt and can spark rumours and speculation. Ongoing communication is required.
