May Noonan aged care home in Terang, 212km southwest of Melbourne, has received full accreditation from the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission (ACQSC), only weeks before the home is due to close.
Lyndoch Living, which operates the home, announced recently May Noonan will close, due to a lack of registered nurses, and rising agency costs making the home’s long-term future unviable.
Lyndoch Acting Chief Executive Jill Davidson told The Standard that May Noonan’s full accreditation is “a good news story”, despite the sadness caused by the home’s closure.
“It is sad that we have reached the ideal in quality outcomes yet we need to close the facility,” she said.
Only four residents remain at May Noonan.
The Federal Government is providing surge staff to ensure the facility can maintain staffing levels in its final weeks.
