SafeWorkSA begins audit of residential aged care homes

1 min read

Compliance checks will be conducted on private and Government-owned residential aged care facilities by the state’s safety regulator on how staff use equipment such as hoists, patient lifters, stretchers, wheelchairs and slide sheets to move residents with limited mobility from one location to another.

SafeWork SA inspectors will provide education and checklists to ensure staff follow and understand the correct procedures.

Non-compliant facilities may be issued with compliance notices to remedy the matter within a specified timeframe if the matter cannot be addressed with the inspectors while they are are on site.

Between 2019 to 2023, ReturnToWork SA received an average of 733 claims per year from residential care services, in particular residential aged care services.

The largest database of homes: agedcare101
