Architecture firm dwp has released a design for its 63-hectare Broadmeadow precinct that includes a large vertical retirement village with integrated library and childcare, plus a hotel, entertainment centre and terraced housing.

The NSW Government wants to open up the site to private development. The Newcastle Knights already plan to build a $20 million rugby league centre of excellence at a site adjacent to Newcastle stadium.
