Another aged care CEO steps down
Another high-profile aged care CEO has stepped down, continuing a wave of leadership change across the sector.
Not For Profit Southern Cross Care (NSW & ACT) has announced the resignation of CEO Monique Reynolds.
The departure follows the shock resignation of Regis Healthcare CEO Linda Mellors in December and Uniting NSW.ACT CEO Tracey Burton’s recent retirement announcement, marking a period of significant turnover at the top of some of Australia’s largest providers.
Monique had been with SCC (NSW & ACT) for nine years, including six-and-a-half years as Non-Executive Director followed by two-and-a-half years as CEO. She had stepped into the role after the departure of Helen Emmerson in 2023. Her resignation took effect on Monday 2 February 2026.
In her time as leader, Monique led the retirement village, aged care, and home care provider through a new Strategic Plan, a period of significant digital and regulatory transformation.
A statement said: “The Board expresses their deepest gratitude to Monique for strengthening our financial position, championing person-centred, and resident-led care across our 40 communities, along with delivering positive community outcomes around diversity, reconciliation and sustainability.
“Under Monique’s leadership, we strengthened governance, risk and compliance frameworks, and maintained high quality and accreditation standards across our services.
“Monique guided the organisation through an evolving regulatory landscape, preparing for and implementing major reforms under the new Aged Care Act.
“We thank her for the difference she has made and wish her every success in the next chapter of her professional journey.”

Ant Dureau, a Non-Executive Director of the Not For Profit operator since July 2021, has agreed to step in as interim CEO while the Board recruits a permanent replacement.
SCC (NSW & ACT) operates 27 retirement villages, 27 residential aged care homes, and delivers home care in 350 suburbs, caring for 4,172 residents and clients, with 2,327 staff.
In January, the operator acquired the historic St Joseph’s Convent in Goulburn from the Sisters of Saint Joseph of the Sacred Heart. SCC NSW & ACT operates the adjacent 30-bed Tenison Residential Care home, and is considering future uses for the Convent site.
