Another home care provider goes to the wall as administrator appointed

1 min read

Perth-based home care and CHSP provider Therapy Focus has entered voluntary administration after more than 25 years in operation, serving over 4,000 clients – including nearly 1,500 aged care customers.

On 9 October 2025, the Not For Profit appointed McGrathNicol as voluntary administrators. The organisation continues to operate on a business-as-usual basis for now, with the administrators telling The Weekly SOURCE there has been strong interest from potential buyers and they are optimistic about a sale outcome.

More than 60 parties have responded to an expression of interest process, with offers due by 10 November 2025. The Supreme Court of Western Australia has granted the administrators a three-month extension to report to creditors, with the report now due 6 February 2026.

Therapy Focus has been under sustained financial pressure, compounded by the Federal Government’s decision to reduce National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) therapy prices despite rising demand and costs.

Board Chair Fiona Payne said the organisation’s efforts to create a sustainable business model had been unfunded and required significant draw-downs of limited reserves.

“The most significant impediment to this work has been the inability to match our pricing, which is set by the NDIA, with the cost of service delivery,” Ms Payne said.

“The most recent change to NDIS therapy pricing, announced in June, was a significant reduction and resulted in a multi-million-dollar cut to our revenue with just two weeks’ notice.

“Therapy Focus is one of only a handful of large therapy providers operating in the NDIS nationally, and we are no longer able to continue to offset rising operational costs.”

NDIS prices are capped – a situation soon to be mirrored in aged care, with Support at Home pricing caps to take effect from 1 July 2026.

McGrathNicol has confirmed that staff will receive their entitlements, although they will not continue to accrue entitlements after the administrators’ appointment.

Therapy Focus is the latest home care operator to collapse in the past six months, following the failures of Momentum Collective and Annecto.
