Developer of the upmarket Sovereign Islands at Broadwater, Lewis Land this week announced it will embark on its first retirement project – a $250 million resort-style community at Biggera Waters. The Harbour Quays Retirement Resort, earmarked for a 9.45 hectare site near Harbour Town shopping centre, will feature 383 ILUs and 80 serviced apartments. Director of retirement living for Lewis Land, Sam Terranova, said the development would be designed and purpose-built to appeal to baby boomers “ready to move to a community-living lifestyle.” For frail retirees seeking assisted living services, the resort would be akin to a boutique hotel, he said. An application has been lodged with the Gold Coast City Council for the project; if approved, the project’s construction will be staged over approximately seven years.
