The two aged care sector peak bodies, Aged & Community Services Australia [ACSA] and Leading Aged Services Australia [LASA] have commenced working together, implementing the Aged Care Leadership for Change project. Driven by the well-known future shortage of talent at all levels in the sector, the objective is to ensure quality people are recruited and retained plus existing people are professionally developed. The project is part of the two years/$12 million Aged Care Innovation Project funded by industry and government. The other three other projects are:
Nursing Pathways [nursing career progression to degree level] coordinated by the Australian Nursing Federation
Securing Workforce Sustainability [changing roles of personal carers and the move to consumer directed care models] coordinated by the trade union United Voice
Aged Care Advisory Service [new network of local advisers on workforce development and aged care reforms] coordinated by the Community Services and Health Industry Skills Council
ATO plans to charge GST on manufactured home parks scrapped
