The community based village and care operator Carrington Care, a one location operator in Camden on the outskirts of Sydney, is pushing hard to deliver five star services at a budget cost to residents and related customers.
CEO Raad Richards says he needs to invest now to ensure fast sales and future security for his stand alone village and care facility. He believes he has to remove the stigma of the village lifestyle. With 264 ILUs and 390 residents, he has just completed an $8.5 million leisure club complete with a gym, three meeting rooms, pool and The Rocksalt restaurant, which is open to the public Tuesday to Sunday. He points out the restaurant sells Crown Lagers for $3 – pricing that ensures strong public patronage which in turn funds six day trading and a high-quality facility for residents and their families.
He just also invested $750,000 in the William Paling Walk, a landscape feature that has become the ‘in demand’ wedding location – which then feeds events into his restaurant.
Construction has just commenced on a new 130 bed care facility to replace a 50 bed unit that was built in 1980. Going against the trend of high care emphasis, it will have 79 low care suites with standard, deluxe and premium services, plus 34 high care units. He also just submitted a DA for 19 ILUs which he has already sold five at $600,000 each.
Prior to joining Carrington Care 10 years ago, Reading was Deputy CEO of Bankstown Hospital.
