The Anglicans have achieved a coup by negotiating with the New South Wales government approval to build a 14 storey village and aged care facility as part of the Landcom redevelopment site at Victoria Park in Zetland, halfway between the CBD and Sydney airport. Comprising of a 120 bed residential care facility, and 180 ILUs, the Anglicans aim to bring affordable retirement living to the largely blue-collar precinct bordering Sydney's eastern suburbs. They claim they will design and decorate the facility like a quality hotel and will provide sweeping views of the eastern suburbs, nearby golf courses, the airport and Botany Bay. It is due for completion in 2010.
