New figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics found 22% of people aged 65 to 69 are still working, compared with 9% in 1989. Its a trend the Melbourne-based Casey Group recognised when it developed The Resort Torquay, which features a range of housing and accommodation options including 50 retirement beach villas through to a recently opened hotel. The resort retirement compound has been designed to appeal to the over 60s who are seeking to divide their time between to homes one in the city of choice, the second within a two-hour drive from the principal residence. The group is about to commence work on a new project at Avondale Heights, Victoria, which will include 130 two and three bedroom luxury ILUs, and aged care facilities.
