Brisbane City Council is one of the largest in Australia and its own planning taskforce is predicting a housing shortage crisis for the elderly. Perhaps a first for a council, the taskforce is recommending development fees for retirement villages and aged care facilities be cut by 50%, developments should be given priority status for three years, aged care facilities should be fast tracked and universal housing designs be included in DA approvals.
