One of the most striking outcomes of the 2020 Summit was the complete absence of discussion
(and therefore ideas) about the ageing except one idea from Mr. Rudd himself. It appears
he visited the Health group and asked them to consider where people age the appropriate
accommodation. It was not taken up. As Greg Mundy, CEO of ACSA exclaimed, Generation X
hi-jacked the Summit! A strong proponent of technology in the future of ageing, Greg has put
up two ideas in his response: (First:) Research into the complex interconnected conditions that
affect older people is needed; the use of technology to enhance peoples independence and
well-being is relevant at all ages. (Second:) If any area cries out for straightening out convoluted
arrangements between the Commonwealth and the States its health and aged care; the
concept of a portable, electronic health record has a respectable pedigree.
