As a result of the Khmer Rouge killing fields, Cambodia has the opposite problem to Japan, with just 11% of its population aged 60+. However the elderly are being left behind by the migration of young people to the cities for work. The first retirement village is called Cambodia Retirement Village and was created by Kim Vuthy in Cham Bak, a small village 100 kilometres SE of Phnom Penh. Kim grew up in the village that just received electricity a year ago and he is only the second university graduate from the village. It now has 24 residents
