Boandik Lodge has moved from a surplus to a loss of $29,000 across his three care facilities after being loaded with the on-costs to wage increases applied by the government. With personal care workers wage increasing by 18.7% over four years, enrolled nurses by 25% and registered nurses by 29.9% Boandik has been hit by a WorkCover premium increase of $120,000 plus additional sick and annual leave costs. They have had to reduce non-care staff hours as a result and predict many other operators will follow into loss.
