Last Friday the most heavily promoted segment on Channel 9 nationally was the lead article on A Current Affair, being the pension rebellion against the management of Seacliff village in Parkdale (VIC). The aggressive presentation stated that “pensioners were sick of paying for a site manager who they claim didn’t pull his weight”. The residents also complained that the wage of the manager had increased from $36,000 to $70,000 and that the manager’s office was only open between 10 AM and 4 PM. The owner had provided a full solicitor’s letter responding to all the questions from the TV program explaining that the manager lived on site and was available 24/7. None of this was reported in the program. The letter is available on the ACA website HERE. The residents also complained about lack of maintenance but little was mentioned that they had not approved budgets and that the matter was currently before the tribunal
