Fifteen Indian cities and towns now have established retirement villages as part of the
solution to the breakdown of the family unit in the burgeoning Indian middle class, where
more than 80 million people are aged 60+. The major hurdle for most is cost buy-in prices
at luxury villages range from $75,000 to $125,000. An Indian-based developer is now seeking
a joint venture partner to build retirement communities in another four Indian cities. They are
proposing village home exchange programs between India and say, Australia, as part of the
plan.
