Rapid expansion continues with Chairman Jim Hazel and CEO Simon Owens Ingenia. In addition to acquiring several rental villages, launching its manufactured home park portfolio (with acquisitions) and converting some rental villages into DMF villages all within this year Ingenia has now announced its Ingenia Care Service. It will provide community care services across its 29 Garden Villages rental communities with an immediate test roll-out across three villages.
Owen knows aged care form his Aevum days. He has gone for experience, recruiting Janene Eagleton from Australian Unity where she was General Manager Client Service, responsible for four aged care facilities, 17 retirement villages and over 200 community care packages. Previously she was Executive Director Strategy and Development for Catholic Health Care and Director of Hospital Services at St Vincents Private Hospital in Sydney.
Nick Reid is also joining Ingenia as Development Director. Ingenia currently has a development pipeline in excess of 1,000 new homes across 13 projects. Reid has 20 years in retirement village development experience. He has been General Manager of the Gandel Group retirement portfolio and Managing Director and 25% owner of Sakkara Living - which sold 17 villages to Aevum when Simon Owen was taking that company public. (They are now part of the Stockland portfolio).
To fund its growth Ingenia recently went to the wholesale market to raise $21 million. It was four times oversubscribed. With conservative debt this gives $70M+ for further expansion.
