The first people Julia Gillard sought out when Kevin Rudd announced his resignation were her parents in an Adelaide retirement village. Unfortunately after viewing his resignation on TV her car knocked over, then ran over the foot of a Channel Nine cameraman who was then taken to hospital. Gillard is one of a number of politicians with parents in retirement villages.
