The International peak body for ageing services is IAHSA, (International Association of Homes and Services for the Ageing); it is based in Washington DC. This week its 10th Biannual International Conference is being staged in Shanghai, China.
Following last week’s four-day marathon ACSA conference, a large ACSA related delegation of 11 is in Shanghai bidding for Perth to host the IAHSA 2015 conference. They include Viv Allanson (also an IAHSA board member) of Maroba, Stephen Cornelissen of Mercy Health, Rob Hankins of ECH, John Kelly and Judy Martin of ACSA, Russell Brettnell and Paul Bennett of the Aged Care Channel, Stephen Judd of Hammond Care, Rob Freeman of ARV, Steve Teulan of UnitingCare and Jenene Buckley of Ferros Care.
One of the standout speakers at the ACSA conference was Margie Van Zyl from South Africa. She has just been elected Chair of IAHSA, its first woman in this position ... and from a developing country.
