Surprising many, LASA has defied the odds by achieving 700 attendees in distant Perth. This approximates the same number of attendees as ACSA achieved last month on the Gold Coast for their national conference. LASA was formally launched in July, when it combined private aged care peak body ACAA, with Aged Care QLD and ACCV as a breakaway body from ACSA.
In his keynote presentation, LASA CEO Gerard Mansour outlined the organizations six point agenda, all relating to government, going forward:
positive changes to ACFI funding to providers
a positive 9 November decision on significant refurbishment
approval for the industry to the set accommodation prices
increased consumer directed care in home care packages
increased flexibility to charge extra service and lifestyle fees in care
an agreed working wages compact
