The worst of Brisbanes floods last year stripped the Lockyer Valley but it did not rid Amaroo Retirement village on Woongarra Scenic Drive, Bargara of its colony of flying foxes. A five year problem, the residents are concerned with disease. The local and state councils wont step in. Wildlife supporters say flying foxes are vital for pollination and the dispersal of seeds for native plants, plus they cant be moved for another six months, as females are birthing. Not what the residents want to hear.
