A scathing new report has been released in New Zealand which says a “revolution" in the way older people are cared for, is urgently needed. The report made 14 recommendations, including establishing an Aged Care Commission, training for all aged care staff, a star rating system for aged care facilities and called for an overall aged care strategy by Government. The report also made a shocking link between the low income levels and over work of aged care staff were and the overuse of anti-psychotic medication in aged care facilties.
