In a surprise move, Kerry Packers favourite private hospital, St Vincent’s (operated by the Sisters of Charity), has taken over the management of the small regional aged care village operation Ozanam, located in Lismore (northern NSW). It comprises of 30 ILUs, 50 low care beds and some special need places.
The Catholic diocese of Lismore has purchased the property with Catholic Healthcare transitioning out of management and St Vincent’s moving in - apparently its first aged care and village enterprise. Given that it operates too big, traditional hospitals in Sydney – 737 km away – it appears to be a significant strategic move.
