Buried in the transcripts of the Retirement Village Public Briefing of the QLD Gov. Housing Committee is a comment by Mark Francis, Exec. Director of Policy, that there are 317 retirement villages registered in QLD, with 26 new entrants in the past three years and 4 villages exiting – a net increase of just 22 villages – or eight new villages a year. QLD accounts for 30% of all villages so this equates to 24 villages a year nationally – just 1%p.a. sector growth. Not good on the one hand but with limited supply and growing demand, sales should be sizzling – if you have the right offer.
