Consider the rapidly changing landscape of retirement village development, the Not For Profits (NFPs) and the marriage of the RVA and the Property Council.
Right now there are at least five NFPs across the country with $50-100M+ in retirement and aged care developments in place – far outpacing the existing private sector operators (excluding Stockland). An example is IRT, a (local) community Not For Profit headquartered down in Wollongong south of Sydney. Yet they are buying and developing villages and care in north Brisbane and Sunshine Coast - and actively engaging with the Property Council. Masonic Homes in SA is openly stating it would like to expand its village business interstate and is expanding its influence with the RVA and thus the property Council as well. Perhaps this is why IRT is sponsoring the Property Council Illawarra Lunch, with NSW Minister for Ageing and Minister for Disability Services, The Hon. Andrew Constance MP and a panel reviewing the NSW Ageing Strategy. You can register at www.propertyoz.com.au
