Stephen Koukoulas says Australia has never had it better

The economic advisor to Julia Gillard when she was Prime Minister, Stephen walked through why we should be happy. He says the economy is OK, otherwise the Government would be acting faster. His major points:
• Australia is now the 5th richest country in the world (after Luxembourg, Macau, Qatar, Norway and Singapore)
• Every 2.5 years we have another 1 million people – base for growth
• Our wealth – reflected in the stock market – has increased 35% since mid year
• Housing is up and will continue to rise given confidence
• Consumer spending is up but so is household savings
