Stewart Brown Survey Reveals Less Than 33% of High Care Makes a Profit

The 2008 Stewart Brown Business Solutions Benchmark Survey of 280 care facilities found that less than a third of participating high care facilities achieved a net operating profit, with the average result being a deficit of $7.08 per bed day. Facilities with mostly single rooms suffered bigger losses than those that had more multiple-bed rooms plus facilities with a separate dementia unit delivered a poorer net operating result.
