The latest StewartBrown Aged Care Financial Performance Survey of 607 care facilities reveals that the average facility profit in 2012 was $8.24 per day compared $5.10 per day in 2011, a 61% increase. This equals $3,153 per year. The average income was $193.65 per day per bed and average EBITDA $7,994 per bed per annum, or a 3.2% return on the average $250,000 construction and land costs of a new bed. Not all facilities cover their costs, in fact 14% had a negative return. The survey covered 607 residential care facilities, 120 EACH programs, 177 CACP programs and 97 EACHD programs.
