Townsville retirement village resident escapes conviction over cupcake assault, plus a Port Macquarie assault

Oonoonba (Townsville) retirement village resident Denes Miklos, aged 59, was charged with assaulting his 79-year-old neighbour Don Dyson with a plastic chair after Mr. Dyson had thrown a cupcake at Mr. Miklos; he missed. The magistrate threw out the charge because of conflicting witnesses on the weapon used, alternating between our chair, a shoe and no weapon at all.

In our Port Macquarie village this week two teenagers entered the ILU of a 91-year-old woman, stealing cash from her and pushing her about. She was not injured.
