Melbournes Monash Council is attempting to sell land, assets and the business associated with its 40 ILU and 97 bed Monash Gardens facility, plus its 68 bed Elizabeth Gardens. However residents and their families are fighting the sale with rallies, media events and now a YouTube video that is highly emotional.
It interviews approximately 10 elderly residents, many in tears, plus family members. It also features large crowds walking the main streets at night demonstrating with placards. In 3 weeks it has had 453 views. The mayor, Micaela Drieberg is wavering, stating the expressions of interest advertising did not mean the two facilities would definatly be sold.
