Assessment against the new standards by the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency (ACCQA) will start from 1 July 2019, giving providers 12 months to make any changes needed to meet the new requirements.
Each standard will have three aspects: a statement of outcome for the consumer; a statement of expectation for the organisation; and organisational requirements to demonstrate that the standard has been met.
11 aged care providers are currently piloting the standards and their supporting guidance material before end-to-end testing starts this month.
