The Margaret River Lifestyle Village, 277km southwest of Perth, has been awarded the Excellence in Seniors Living at the Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) Awards.

The Village has just officially launched its first stage which includes a Clubhouse with its own on-site vineyard and a microbrewery where residents can brew their own craft beer.

Residents will also be able to take part in cooking lessons, gardening workshops and wine making with access to an established orchard, electric bikes and the nearby Rails to Trails cycleways.

The 91 homes, which are priced from $322,500 to $397,000, also come with a water tank and solar panels – all drawcards that Village Project Director, Adan Nicholson says will attract buyers.

“We’ve got to give people a reason to buy and these sorts of things are a huge wow factor for people,” he says.

Mr Nicholson expects 50% of their residents to be from outside the region. He also says their biggest source of leads is www.villages.com.au. “We’ve been really impressed with www.villages.com.au for its ‘bang for buck’. Last month alone, we got five leads, and we consistently get good views.”
