Brisbane residents protest eight-storey vertical retirement village by new entrant

1 min read

The new wave of consumer advocacy: James Property Group will face an uphill battle to build the 36 two-bedroom units at 5 The Esplanade in Forest Lake after the 100-member-plus Forest Lake Action Group (FLAG) promised to fight the medium-rise development.

James Property Group is the Brisbane developer behind the 50-unit Arlington Nundah apartments in Nundah, 11km north of the Brisbane CBD. This development would be their first retirement village.

The residents say the Group had told them the building would be six storeys at a February community meeting, but its Director Jim Dupuis has denied this.

He’s told The Courier-Mail he was “not sure” how the proposal was affected by the community’s feedback, saying “people are always going to complain.”

Yes – but the Council is listening with one member already saying he will vote against the “inappropriate” development.
