No ‘shanty towns’: Mornington residents stage protest against $50M 371-home land lease community

[The new wave of Consumer Advocacy] A group of 20 residents gathered on the gated road outside the property where Melbourne property group Steller Estates wants to build the community last week, saying the development will look like a “trailer park”.

“That’s similar to caravan park units. Their design will devalue properties in the area,” spokesperson Christine Pingiaro told the local paper.

It’s understood many have lodged Statements of Grounds opposing the plan with the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) which will now evaluate Steller’s proposal.

Will it have an impact on the final decision? Perhaps not – but it will cost Steller a lot of time and money.
