Catholic Healthcare has begun the next stage at Jemalong Retirement Village in Forbes, 374km west of Sydney, adding a new community centre and seven villas.
The Not For Profit held a sod-turning to mark the start of construction, part of its $600-plus million investment across five integrated communities in NSW over the next five years.
Opened in 2010 as a $16.2 million partnership between the Federal Government, Forbes Shire Council, the Forbes Jemalong Aged People’s Association and Catholic Healthcare, Jemalong has grown to 20 villas.
The new community centre – due for completion in the first half of 2026 – will become the village hub, with a modern kitchen, activity space and a terrace for social connection.
CEO Josh McFarlane said the expansion reflects Catholic Healthcare’s commitment to meeting the evolving needs of regional retirees through contemporary amenities and community-focused design.
