Clayton Church Homes' (CCH) $28 million luxury Summerhill development was officially opened last month.
South Australia's new Minister for Seniors and Ageing Well The Honourable Nat Cook MP and First Assistant Secretary of the Department of Health and Aged Care Trish Garrett jointly opened the boutique site in the Adelaide Hills town of Uraidla, with 120 people in attendance.
“We are extremely proud of what we have created here and that will continue to evolve,” said CCH CEO Jo Boylan.
Set between lush vineyards and cherry orchards, Summerhill is based on a small house healthy ageing model and features private rooms with ensuites for all residents, each with highspeed Wi-Fi and 50-inch LED televisions. It has a gym staffed by positive ageing experts; extensive lifestyle amenities, specialist dementia care support, and architecturally designed landscaped gardens and courtyards.
Residents are offered a selection of meals cooked daily onsite drawing from fresh, seasonal local produce while ‘pop-up’ shops will feature local businesses.
The redevelopment of Summerhill will expand the home from 25 to 60 beds, addressing a bed shortage in the area.
The architects of the project were Brown Falconer, and builders were South Australian firm Kennett Builders.
The furniture was sourced from Workspace Commercial Furniture, Australia's largest diversified commercial furniture manufacturer which is headquartered in Adelaide.
CCH currently operates five aged care homes and 12 retirement villages in South Australia.
